Dr. Anne, I need some help. I broke up with my boyfriend a couple months ago, as he was going out with another girl. I am looking for a new relationship, but I cannot put my old boyfriend out of my mind. No one seems to compare well with him. What should I do? I feel stupid and immature, but I can't help. Catalina

Dr. Anne: Catalina, you heard the saying "Love is blind." There is nothing wrong with the way you feel. It's not unusual to feel the way you do after breaking up with someone. All it proves is that the man is not worthy of your love.

Judging from what I have to read, I presume you are still a young woman, pure in heart. The world is much bigger than the confinement of your old flame. Go out and date other good men. If they do not compare well with your old boy friend, it's not them. Take my word, it's you that puts them under your old boy friend. You are still in the mournng process of old relationship. You will soon out grow it.

Go out and have fun with friends. The new friends don't necessarily have to be romantic friends. You just need to outgrow the old relationship. In no time, you will have your life again, and have a balanced view. Anne.
